Change for Haitian Youth is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for children and young people in Haiti. Through academic programming, English-language instruction, school supplies, teacher support, and youth-development initiatives, CHY helps students continue learning, building confidence, and imagining brighter futures.

My connection to CHY
A Commitment That Became a Movement
I founded Change for Haitian Youth in 2019 out of a personal commitment to Haiti and a belief in the transformative power of education. As a Haitian American who spent the first 12 years of my life in Haiti, this work is deeply personal to me. CHY grew from a desire to remain connected to the country that shaped me while creating meaningful opportunities for its young people.
What began as a summer initiative has grown into an ongoing commitment sustained by educators, volunteers, donors, families, and community partners who continue to believe in Haiti's youth. Every year has presented reasons to question whether we could continue—but the students, teachers, and communities we serve have given us even more reasons to keep saying yes.
My role
Founder and
Executive Director
As CHY's Founder and Executive Director, I help shape the organization's vision, develop its programs, coordinate fundraising efforts, build partnerships, and work alongside our team in Haiti to respond to the needs of participating students and teachers.
My role brings together several parts of who I am: a social worker, educator, advocate, nonprofit leader, and Haitian woman committed to giving back. CHY is not simply an organization I lead. It is a long-term promise to invest in young people, strengthen access to education, and help create opportunities that can extend far beyond a single summer.

Our programs currently serve communities in Haiti’s Artibonite Department. Despite the challenges facing Haiti, our teachers and students continue to demonstrate extraordinary resilience, dedication, and hope.

Since its founding in 2019, CHY has continued its programming year after year. In 2025, our sixth summer served approximately 150 students representing 37 schools. In 2026, we began our seventh year of programming.
Each summer reminds us that meaningful change is built through consistency. It happens when a student receives the materials needed to participate, when a teacher is given the support needed to lead, and when a community knows that others continue to believe in its future.
